I maintain this site as a place to put all of my projects, from weekend projects in the garage, to various programming endeavors. I’ve got a background in just about everything, which should be evident in the wide variety of content on this site. A quick overview of “me”:

– Licensed Private Pilot
– Former FAA Air Traffic Control
– Knowledgeable in: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JQuery, Ajax, MySql, C, C#, C++, BASIC, and more!
– I design and program digital electronics (microcontroller based – PIC, Arduino)
– I can get stuff done in the shop (wood working, metal / machining, etc)
– Love turbines (jet engines)! I’ve owned several – and built one from a turbocharger
– I’ve moved cross-country (east coast to west coast) seven(7) times! Over 23,000 miles of moving (non-military related)
– Rocketry… built rockets, made my own composite fuel
– Developed my own guidance system (partially shown on this site)

I could go on, but things might start to get a bit sketchy, and I’d prefer to remain a free man. 😉

  2. Thanks for the information on the Attitude Indicator. I found it very interesting and useful. I had a lot of fun using it to experiment with the Adafruit BNO055 Absolute Orientation Sensor.

  6. Hi, I recently came in to possession of a Boeing 502-10c turbine engine and am currently in the process of restoring it. Could I get the oil filter model and also the oil type you used in yours? Thanks your page has been very helpful in this process!!

    1. Hi Alex, good questions! I had to go back through my records to see about the filter. I should have had that info posted already, sorry about that! But I found it and have updated the post. It’s NAPA Gold filter #7328 ($16.49 when I bought it). The oil used was Mobil 254. I used that particular oil since several quarts of it were included when I purchased the engine. Previously, I’ve used BP 2380 turbine oil in my prior engines.

Hello there my names is Brendon I’m in the UK I recently bought a beoing 502 turbine it was missing the tach generator and the excitor pack and leads at present it has 2 normal car spark plugs in it which I don’t think are correct? so next I need to find 2 ignitors do you have any idea where to find some ignitors that will fit? I have recently bought a new old stock tach generator from a guy in America and just bought an excitor and 2 new leads I am really wanting to make a digital display the same as yours what an amazing job and write up you have done thank you so much for sharing you have a brilliant Web page I am amazed I have seen up to date replies normally forums are like 10+ years old what I would like to ask you is would you have enough time and be willing to supply and build me the Arduino display ready for me to just connect it to my turbine and if yes what price thank you for your time regards Bren

    1. Hi! I don’t know of any particular source that will have those parts. Places I’ve had success with in the past when looking for parts are eBay and also Avon Aero (based in Florida, USA). Avon has supplied me with exciters and valves in the past for my Boeings. As for the Arduino stuff, that was a fun portion of the project. It definitely looks neat, but I ran into some issues that ultimately had me utilizing conventional turbine gauges for my runs. I would not feel comfortable making such a device for someone else. However, shoot me an email and I’d be happy to work with you to step you through some of the learning hurdles if you’d like to go down that route.
